Chip crisis country, fear of price rise

চিপ সংকটে দেশ, দাম বৃদ্ধির শঙ্কা

From watches or mobiles, to laptops, home smart TVs, refrigerators, cars, technology has touched everywhere. Integrated circuits or chips are being used in these technological products.

The chip crisis has been heard in the world market for some time due to lack of supply as per the demand. The air of this crisis is also felt in the technology manufacturing companies of the country.

Domestic companies Walton and Symphony have blamed rising demand for the chip crisis. The leaders of both the companies said that there is a possibility of increase in the prices of new products due to the chip crisis. Even if the price of the product containing the chip bought at the previous price does not increase, the price of the product containing the chip bought at the new price will increase.

Both companies have said that they have to rely on foreign manufacturers as the raw materials for technology products in the domestic market, especially panels, are not made.

Engineer Liaquat Ali, Deputy Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Computer Products at Walton DG Tech Industries Limited, said, As a result of which we are seeing the crisis of the digital device. Demand has increased. The target was more than the target of each digital manufacturing organization. The raw material manufacturer is struggling to compile it. As a result, there is a temporary shortage of raw materials. At the same time, the prices of these raw materials are also increasing due to the increase in demand.

‘Walton, along with other companies around the world, is facing this problem. We can't control many parts of the IT supply chain. Such as panels. It is going through a crisis now. Due to this crisis, we have to buy raw materials at higher prices, as a result of which the prices of the products that are coming to the market with those raw materials are also increasing, ”he added.

He also said that the price of Walton's products is almost 5 percent lower than other foreign brands where prices are increasing.

Not only Walton, but also the domestic mobile manufacturer Symphony is suffering due to the chip crisis. The company also has to think about the price of the product.

The company's goal was to go 100 percent production by 2021. However, due to the chip crisis, Symphony has to back down from this goal. Zakaria Shahid, managing director of Symphony Mobile, said that although there was no layoff, there was a delay in hiring new staff.

"If the supply chain is not smooth, this project (100 per cent production) will be a bit of a delay for us," he said. It may take longer. In that case we will close the new recruitment at this time. Hopefully, after June, the price of chips and the supply chain will return to normal. '

Meanwhile, the production of iPhone is declining due to the LED display crisis. Production of products from Samsung, Nokia and other companies has lagged behind due to the chip crisis.

The idea of organizations is to overcome this problem. But according to Gabriel Chow, vice chair of World Semiconductor Trade Statistics Asia Pacific, the chip crisis will take time to resolve. This crisis is not being resolved so soon.
