Smartphone makers Xiaomi and Oppo are working on their own custom Five G chipset. It is said that it may be made within this year. This information was given by GMS Arena quoting the latest report received from Taiwan.
Shanghai-based chipset company Unisak is also reportedly working with SOC to help connect the next generation.
After being blacklisted by the United States, Huawei's Kirin chip supply was disrupted.
However, this is not the first time that Xiaomi is going to make its own chipset. In 2016, the Serge S1 chip with a 27-nanometer process was unveiled which was used in the Xiaomi Mi Five G smartphone. However, before the introduction of the MI Mix fold camera used by Serge C1, no more chips were seen from the chip division.
