The customers of the country will face problems in mobile call and internet service. Due to the new wave format and changes, this problem will continue from 11 pm today, Thursday (April 1) to 8 am tomorrow.

Meanwhile, various mobile operators have sent this message to their customers through SMS.

The Bangladesh Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (BTRC) also said in a statement on March 29.

There may be temporary problems with call and internet services for resetting the waves from 11pm on Thursday to 8am on Friday. If you have difficulty using the internet after this time, restart the phone. We apologize for the inconvenience. This is what mobile operator Banglalink informed their customers in a short message.

A statement issued by the BTRC on March 29 said that the first phase of the 1800 MHz wave format will be available from 11pm on April 1 to 8am for 8 hours and the second phase will be launched on April 7 from 11pm to 6am on April 8 for the new format of 2100 MHz. Services may be disrupted.

On March 8, the government sold waves to mobile operators for Tk 6,734 crore. At this auction, 26.4 MHz waves were sold for this amount of money. The money will be available from the operators in five year installments.

Needless to say, mobile phone operators have bought waves to improve the network, which lags behind Ethiopia-Sudan in Africa by ten percent. The entire 26.4 MHz wave auctioned was bought by three private operators. Grameenphone has bought a maximum of 10.4 MHz in two bands. And the government operator Teletalk has returned without buying any wave even after taking part in the auction. The BTRC says one-fourth of the total price must be paid by March 22.

According to the latest report of Ocla, an international organization that measures Internet speed, the average download speed on mobile internet in the country is now 10.56 Mbps and upload speed is 6.19 Mbps. With this slowdown, Bangladesh ranks 137th out of 140 countries in the world. Africa's backward country is slower than Ethiopia-Sudan.

To improve this situation, the regulator BTRC held a wave auction on March 8. In the 2100 MHz band, Robi and Grameenphone are in the competition to get 5 MHz wave allocation in the 9th block. At the end of the 6-hour battle, Robbie lost and bought the base wave for ৭ 26 million for ৬ 47.7 million.

At the end of the auction, it was informed that Grameenphone has 10.4 MHz in two bands; Robi bought 7.8 MHz and Banglalink bought 9.4 MHz.

You have to pay 25 percent of the purchase price by March 22. Even then, it will take another one to one and a half months to provide additional wave service.

With this new wave, Grameenphone's wave volume has increased to 47.4 MHz; Robi's 44 MHz and Banglalink's 40 MHz.

According to BTRC, Grameenphone currently has just over 6 crore subscribers. Robi subscribers 5 crore 15 lakh. Banglalink has 3 crore 59 lakh subscribers and Teletalk has 55 lakh subscribers.
