In 2020, an initiative was taken to organize Gamescom in-person, i.e. in the direct presence of the participants, but it was not implemented. However, the organizers plan to try again. This time they have announced to organize Gamescom 2021 with hybrid i.e. direct presence and virtual participation.
According to the organizers, a limited number of guests will be given the opportunity to participate directly to try out new games. Access will be controlled. But there are separate venues for competition venues, business corners and developers.
Organizers said that those around the world who cannot participate directly will be able to enjoy this year's games online.
Due to limited space, some previous exhibitors will not be able to participate this time. Tickets will go on sale next May. The four-day event will start from August 25.
