US technology giant Apple is set to set up a silicon chip design center in Munich, Germany. It will cost about 1.2 billion dollars. The company has taken this initiative as part of their establishment of Silicon Design Center in Europe. It will be used as a hub for the expansion, research and development of Apple's operations. Apple has already set up its largest engineering center in Munich. About 1,500 engineers from 40 countries are working there. They are working on power management design, application processors and wireless technology.
The manpower to be employed in the new center will work with FiveG and other wireless technologies, Apple said. It will be considered Apple's main hub in the cellular unit. At the same time, the largest R&D (research and development) site in Europe will have all the facilities to create mobile wireless semiconductor software.
